Tiny Talk Tuesday

We have had so much fun with just free play here the last several days. Selena today said, “I like being a cheerleader.” I asked her why? She said, “Because I can tell you to go away. Go Go Go Go away grandma, Go Go Go!”

After having Papa home for 4 days strait, Selena was really missing him today. Tonight when he got home, she kept running to him, “Papa I need to ask Mama to get me some milk, or Papa I need Mama to help me.” I turned around and said, “Selena Mama is right here, why do you go to Papa if you want me?” She just said, “I don’t know.” as she ran right past me to go tell Papa she needed my help with something yet once again.

Tonight while Selena was creating her Santa list for the 100th time, she listed she wants a camera to take real pictures with, dolls, and a bike with pedals, handle bars, and training wheels. I looked at her and said, you got a bike last year, do you really think you need a new bike again this year? She informed me that Santa brings bikes every year.

She looked out and seen some of the neighbors have Christmas lights up already, she yelled, “It’s Halloween again!”

I love the weekends, when Papa is able to enjoy Selena time. I love to just sit back and watch the two of them bond, and interact with each other. Selena is truly one lucky girl to have a Papa who takes so much time with her.

This weekend was lets build a tower using Selena’s mega blocks. they built several different ones that all came crashing down, ending with endless laughs. Papa finally said lets see if we can build a tower using every single block you have.

Selena had so much fun watching their tower getting taller and taller. Papa would tell her what block he wanted next and she would be quick to fulfill his request.

She was getting so amazed that their tower wasn’t even looking like it was going to fall. As they got down to the last blocks, Papa just let Selena pick the ones she thought should go next.

Their finished tower. Selena did not want to take it down, so they left it up for a good 15 minutes or so. We then decided we better take it down before Selena knocked it over. She wasn’t real happy but Papa promised to build another one with her at another time.

As many of you know who follow my blog Selena has been fighting a bad cold. Tonight as we heard the weather forecast, they said we could get snow over the next few days. As we were getting Selena ready for bed, she reminded me that it might snow. I said, “Yes, but it is too bad you are sick.” She promised me that if it snows she will no longer be sick. I asked her, “Well what if it doesn’t snow will you still not be sick?” She said, “We will just have to wait and see, but if it snows I won’t be sick anymore, the snow will make me all better.”

Selena’s birth story in her words, “The stork flew me clear up to the moon. Then he dropped me and I broke. Grandpa fixed me with tape. So now I am Selena. The End.”

Selena’s analogy or plea for a new bed.

• Selena: “Papa, your too big for your bed.”
• Papa: “What, I am too big for my bed, what bed?”
• Selena: “Yes, your too big for your bed that you sleep in. You need a new bed.”
• Papa: “Why so you can have my old bed?”
• Selena: “Yes, you get a new bed and I can have your bed.”

One morning I heard a noise in the bathroom, I turned around to see what was going on, Selena had the toilet brush and was swishing it around in the toilet. I asked her what she was doing, and she informed me, “I have to get my work done. I can’t do anything until I get my work done.” I think we can find a different chore for her.

Tiny Talk Tuesday

Selena upon hearing that Papa’s van broke down informed him, that it is time for him to throw it away and buy a new car.

Out of the clear blue one day Selena informed me that she needs a wedding dress. I asked her why she thought she needed one, and she told me so that she could get a wedding ring like mine.

When I was telling Selena that we would be playing some family games one evening, she informed me, no we won’t because Papa doesn’t play games.

Tiny Talk Tuesday

On Saturday night as the rains began to come down heavy, we heard a funny noise coming from Selena’s bedroom. Upon investigation Selena informed us she was going to raise the sun.

This morning when we dropped Papa off at work, Selena’s eyes filled with tears as she said, “I miss Papa, why does he have to live at work? We will go pick him up for a visit won’t we?”

Tuesday Tiny Talk

Pastor’s wife was telling me she asked Selena one evening if she could write her name, Selena told her no. She then asked her, how she spelled her name. Selena responded breaking her name down into syllables, “Se le na”

The other night Selena was playing with her baby doll, feeding it, burping it, just being a happy little mommy. After about 15 minutes or so she brought the baby doll to me and said, “Change the batteries grandma.”

We had to take Papa to emergency one day when his poor broken tooth got to hurting him so bad, and the medicines the dentist gave him to tide him over until they can pull it wasn’t working. As the nurse was taking Papa’s temperature, and blood pressure, Selena looked up and announced, “This is just marvelous! Now you can take my blood pressure.”

Tiny Talk Tuesday

On Sunday we had a whole day full of nonstop imaginary play. We used no toys but talked, imagined, and just had fun.

Selena happened to look towards the window to discover a little spider hanging on a web. She went over for a closer look then said, “Sorry for bugging you spider!”

Selena came up to me and I wasn’t quite catching what she was saying. I said, “I am not understanding you.” Selena informed me, “You are understanding me.”

Selena has a hypothesis, “Grandma, you get on the keyboard and click things onto the computer.”  3 (that is Selena’s 3 that she clicked showing me how I click on the computer).

We ran into one of her friends from dance class at a store. Upon leaving I said “We will see you on Monday in dance.” Selena looked up and said, “Yes, When we wash the dog.” That is one of the dance moves if you’re wondering.

• Grandpa and Selena having a conversation:
• Grandpa, “Do you like the Cat in the Hat?”
• Selena, “Yes!”
• Grandpa, “Why?”
• Selena, “Yes, I like Cat in the Hat?”
• Grandpa, “But tell me why you like Cat in the Hat.”
• Selena, “Why?”
• Grandpa, “No, tell me why.”
• Selena, “Why?”

Tiny Talk Tuesday

This last week I had a doctor’s appointment. As we sat in the exam room listening to the doctor explain some things to us, Selena suddenly jumped off my lap and with her hands on her hips said, “Would you just examine me?” My doctor obliged and had her get on the exam table with a grin.

Once we were out to the car I asked Selena what she thought of the doctor. She told me, “He is nice, but he talks too much.”

One evening Selena informed me that I was her sweetheart. I told her she was my sweetheart as well. I asked about Papa, and was informed he is just a boy. The next day she announced to Papa that her and I are sweethearts, but he is just a boy. He asked her well can a dog be a sweetheart, and she informed him no, a dog is just a dog and you are just a boy.

Tiny Talk Tuesday

On Sunday morning Selena decided to practice her days of the week. She got up to her calendar and began:

• Sundayday
• Mondayday
• Wednesdayday
• Thursdayday
• Fridayday

It was all we could do to not laugh. I told her she did a great job then asked her if she wanted to read them off the calendar with me. She’s learning!

I strained my back on Wednesday when I was helping Selena get into her car seat. This weekend while sitting with my heating pad, Selena looked up and in an attempt to tell me that my heating pad was off she said, “Mama your red is bleeding.” It took me a while to figure out what she was talking about. She just kept repeating, “Your Red is bleeding.” Finally I asked her where, what red, she pointed to the red light on the thermostat for my heating pad, I chuckled and explained, “Oh you mean my light is blinking.”

Tiny Talk Tuesday

Yesterday we were playing silly games with Selena. Nothing much in particular, just letting her lead the way as her imagination was at work.

She looked up and said, “I am going to be a hippo.”

Papa and I sat their and watched, waiting for her to be a hippo.

She looked at me and asked, “Are you listening?”

I guess I was suppose to tell her it was ok to be a hippo or something.

A bit later our game went to Simon says. Selena is trying to understand the concept of this game, but hasn’t quite figured it out yet. She decided it was her turn to be Simon.

Selena: “Simon says grab your hair.”

So we grabbed our hair.

Selena: “Simon says go really fast.”

We’re looking at her holding our hair, “Selena, what are we suppose to go real fast at?”

Selena: “Pulling your hair out!”

I just have to add one other one. The other night Selena could not stay out of anything. I turned around after she had been quiet for a bit and she drew a face on our white board. She informed me she had drew Papa. I thought a minute, and then asked where she got the dry erase pen. She pointed to a box, I opened it and asked her which pen she used, she showed me a permanent ink marker, so now we have Papa permanently watching over us while we do our schooling everyday. Later she informed me, “I ruined your white board, I am so sorry Mama!”
