Early Mother’s Day Gift

Papa called me Friday afternoon and told me that my Mother’s gift would be delivered in a few hours. I pushed a little to see what was coming, and was truly surprised when he told me a dishwasher. All of our learning stopped at this point and we got straight to work on a little Spring cleaning. I had to make room for my dishwasher. I think I was still in a bit of shock or numb from disbelief that Papa actually bought one with out me being there to pick it out. Anyway I had to move the dresser that was in our kitchen that held all our homeschool materials to make room for the dishwasher. Papa suggested moving it to the garage, but I talked him into moving it into our bedroom, so I would have easy access to it.

100_4191 This poor piece of furniture has been moved throughout the hose so many times. It made its way into our home via my mom. It worked so well in the kitchen, as I could sit my microwave on it, and fill the drawers with all our learning materials. If you remember way back when we first started this adventure, this dresser sat in our dining room but had to be moved for my new dinning room set. Enough said, I think it has found a permanent home in our bedroom, or at least until we finally find a larger house and move.

100_4804 This now sits in it’s place in the kitchen. That is right I have washed my dishes by hand for the past 6 years. I’ve dreamed of having one of these babies everyday in those 6 years. Too bad it didn’t get delivered in time for Papa to run down to the hardware store before it closed to get the right thing we need for the sink so we can actually hook it up. Another downside to living in a small town, they roll up the sidewalks at 6:00 p.m. He can take care of that tomorrow.

This means an over haul of my entire kitchen, as now I have to make room for my microwave someplace else, which will probably mean I will have to find someplace for something else. Oh well, I will get it all figured out and will probably love it when it is done. I know one thing I will love having this dishwasher.

Selena was so excited when it was delivered, and is calling it her dishwasher. Now I guess she will be wanting to learn how to load and unload it, which will last until she discovers it is a chore. Hush! We will keep that a secret and just let her have some fun!

Happy Mother’s Day!

  5. Good for you! Happy Mother's Day :)

We do not have a dishwasher and won't be getting one anytime soon...it's a good thing that my husband helps with the dishes, and Jenna is getting to be a good helper too.
