Mother’s Day

DSCF0742

We started celebrating Mother’s Day on Saturday. Papa and Selena gave me this beautiful pink rose and a very lovely card. Since I had been outside all week with Selena, Papa actually suggested that he take her out and believe me I enjoyed the peacefulness of my couch, and a good movie. I haven’t just laid on the couch and watched a movie all by myself since before Selena was born. I truly think this was one of the best days I have had in a long time.

When the movie was over I did join Papa and Selena outside for some fun in the sun. Selena was pretty tired today from all the sun throughout the week, so we enjoyed laughing and just being together. While we did take a short nature walk around the property, it was really nice just to sit in the yard. Selena got to learn how grass goes to seed when it is not mowed. She thought it was cool to spread the grass seed around in hopes that it will grow more grass.

We also made our way out to the barn to see what the horses were doing. The two paints were out in the back field, but as always Emma was near her stall, and took time from her eating to pose for a picture. Selena loves the horses, she enjoys watching them. She loves it when I will pick up extra apples or carrots so that she can give them a treat.

I count my blessings everyday for the opportunity to share all of this with Selena and Papa.

Today we will go to church and I would suppose we will spend more time out in the sun. Who knows where we might end up, or what we will find. I am sure it will be a lot of fun though.

Happy Mother’s Day!

Early Mother’s Day Gift

Papa called me Friday afternoon and told me that my Mother’s gift would be delivered in a few hours. I pushed a little to see what was coming, and was truly surprised when he told me a dishwasher. All of our learning stopped at this point and we got straight to work on a little Spring cleaning. I had to make room for my dishwasher. I think I was still in a bit of shock or numb from disbelief that Papa actually bought one with out me being there to pick it out. Anyway I had to move the dresser that was in our kitchen that held all our homeschool materials to make room for the dishwasher. Papa suggested moving it to the garage, but I talked him into moving it into our bedroom, so I would have easy access to it.

100_4191 This poor piece of furniture has been moved throughout the hose so many times. It made its way into our home via my mom. It worked so well in the kitchen, as I could sit my microwave on it, and fill the drawers with all our learning materials. If you remember way back when we first started this adventure, this dresser sat in our dining room but had to be moved for my new dinning room set. Enough said, I think it has found a permanent home in our bedroom, or at least until we finally find a larger house and move.

100_4804 This now sits in it’s place in the kitchen. That is right I have washed my dishes by hand for the past 6 years. I’ve dreamed of having one of these babies everyday in those 6 years. Too bad it didn’t get delivered in time for Papa to run down to the hardware store before it closed to get the right thing we need for the sink so we can actually hook it up. Another downside to living in a small town, they roll up the sidewalks at 6:00 p.m. He can take care of that tomorrow.

This means an over haul of my entire kitchen, as now I have to make room for my microwave someplace else, which will probably mean I will have to find someplace for something else. Oh well, I will get it all figured out and will probably love it when it is done. I know one thing I will love having this dishwasher.

Selena was so excited when it was delivered, and is calling it her dishwasher. Now I guess she will be wanting to learn how to load and unload it, which will last until she discovers it is a chore. Hush! We will keep that a secret and just let her have some fun!

Happy Mother’s Day!
