I had been so stumped as to how to make Selena’s costume for her play. I finally got an idea off a site here on the Internet, sorry I didn’t bookmark it and couldn’t find it to link it to this post.
Materials:
- Material, (I used a queen size sheet)
- Velcro
First I folded the sheet in half and cut a hole for Selena’s head to go through. I then had her lay down on the sheet and traced around her body, leaving a lot of extra fabric for the arms and body. It really looked like a large angel since I had her hold her arms straight out to the sides. I cut this out and using the velcro I made a quick seam for each sleeve. We then put it on and having her stand on the chair I cut it to length. We made a belt using the fabric, which I used to tie around her waist over lapping the excess material on either side to make it appear as if there were a seam down each side too. I then cut a rectangle out of the left over material, and another belt like strip for her head covering. Again I used just a little bit of velcro, to hold the head band together in the back.
One more picture of Selena saying her last line while waving bye to Jesus. I must admit I am pretty proud of myself for doing all of this minus a sewing machine. Hint, Hint to Papa, please buy me a sewing machine this year…PLEASE!!
Yay! Good job :) So cute!
