Geography/History Busy Little Bees

geographyhistory_thumb

For some reason we awoke this morning and I suddenly realized that the end of the month is here. I wanted to fit a geography lesson in, but Selena informed me she didn’t want to study a State this week, which truly was fine with me. With all the festivities of Good Friday, and Easter, I neglected to design the May bulletin board for the church. I guess you can see that this is becoming my regular job, that is ok I love this type of creativity. There is so much to do with a meeting tomorrow with the Children’s Ministries, and I still have to get my Sunday School material ready to go for Sunday.

We did however find some time for some fun. Selena was asking all day for me to build her a house. She wanted a lego house. She still doesn’t do much with her legos on her own, but she loves it when I will sit down and build something for her. Her only complaint is it takes too long.

I also took time today to work on the Mother’s Day craft for all the kids at the church. I took the idea from Ticia at Adventures of Mommydum when they studied Georgia and the Trail of Tears. I thought the cards her children made were very pretty. Though she had a punch to make her pedals, I instead used a heart shaped foam sticker for my pattern.

All the children will make one of these, and while we are talking about families this month, starting with the story of Moses, the children will be asked to list at least three things they can do at home to help out.

We are still interested in exchanging postcards, so anyone who would like to exchange with us please leave a comment with a way for me to get in touch with you. Also if you do not feel comfortable giving out your personal information, but would be willing to send Selena a postcard, she would greatly appreciate that, we still have a lot of States that we would love to get postcards for. Just let us know by leaving a comment, again please make sure there is a way for me to contact you if you have your email disabled.

I also want to put a plug in for another family looking to swap postcards with anyone. You will not be disappointed, I know we sure were not when we received so many postcards from the same family along with some Braille sheets to study so we can explore how to read Braille. If your interested in swapping postcards with them, then head on over to Traci’s Teaching Times and just let her know.

Now it is your turn to link up what you have been studying this week in Geography and History in your homes.

  5. Bulletin boards were the bane of my existence when I was teaching.

The cards are so cute. I love the idea of using hearts, that's a nice touch.

  6. We would exchange postcards with you. If you want one from Arkansas.

I need to get "girly" Legos for my daughter. She would like that so much better.

  7. R doesn't really play with legos much, but my boys both like them. I like the little house you made.

We are happy to send you a MA postcard if you don't have one already.

The card is a very nice idea.

  8. I'd be happy to send a NY postcard to anyone who'd like one. We live in rural upstate NY, though, not near NYC.

The Lego house is great! My girls always build houses and set up a whole scene with their Legos when they get them out. Usually, they play with them for days at a time :) It's been a while since they last had them out.
