stART/DogFish

Dogfish

After we read DogFish by Gillian Shields about a little boy who tries to persuade his mom into getting him a dog, but she keeps telling him he that he doesn’t need a dog since he has a gold fish. She finally tells him instead of worrying about what he doesn’t have to learn to be happy with what he does have, he decides to try to make more of a dog out of his fish. In the end he decides that while everyone else has just dogs, he is lucky because he has a dog fish.

I cut out a gold fish, a dog ear, and a color out of construction paper. I told Selena I wanted her to make her own dog fish.

We used a pipe cleaner that I poked through the fish from behind the collar, then back up through to twist it around the collar. She now has her own DogFish that as she says is great it can swim in the water but it can also go with her for great walks. She enjoyed reading the book to her DogFish when we finished this project.

I am linking this up at A Mommy’s Adventure and JDaniel4’s Mom.
