What My Child Is Reading

Jellybeans The Jellybeans and the Big Book Bonanza by Laura Numeroff and Nate Evans Illustrations by Lynn Munsinger is a story about a little girl who loves to read. She has three friends all have different interests, but they all share one thing, their love for Jellybeans. When assigned to do a book report for school, Anna introduces her friends to the world of books. When it comes to giving her report she discovers she is nervous and her friends come to her rescue to help her get through her oral report. Selena and I enjoyed this book and it really opened the door for discussing the differences and similarities in friends .

Duck & Goose Find a Pumpkin by Tad Hills was a very easy read for Selena. I got a kick out of her as she read this. The duck and goose decide to look for a pumpkin, but they are not sure where to find one. They looked in all sorts of different places. Every time they looked someplace wrong, Selena would laugh and say “No not there!” They finally discover that pumpkins are found in pumpkin patches.

Littleyellow The Little Yellow Leaf by Carin Berger was a perfect book to read after reading Leaf Man. Selena kept saying, “See at least one leaf stayed, maybe that is Leaf Man.” Then in the end when another leaf popped into the scene and they both flew off together, Selena said “Good to know Leaf Man has a friend.” Again this book was a great conversation starter on how things can be fun with a friend.

Selena enjoyed all the books this week.

  1. The jellybeans looks super cute!

I think I almost got Duck and Goose, but it was in board book format, and I'm trying to move away from those.

  2. The board book format of Duck and Goose, might have kept me from checking it out too, but I had ordered it in from the library catalogue, so didn't know until it arrived at our library. But, that duck, and goose are so cute - noone complained about it being a "baby" book :)
