Simple Science/ Selena’s take on Balance

We didn’t do any science this week. I came down sick over the weekend, and we had a lot to get done with Papa getting back in town so with further ado here is Selena’s episode of Balance! Selena came up with the idea to use a pillow case and have her own gunny sack race. We were quite amazed and proud of her abilities to hop in the gunny sack (pillow case) across the floor.

100_2850 100_2851 100_2853 100_2854 She was starting to get pretty red in the face, looking pretty tired!

100_2856 She finally had enough! That was the end of her race. She had a lot of fun though and kept announcing, “Look! I am doing it!” She never fell not one time. She never got tangled up in the pillow case, and hoped the entire time. It was cute and funny to watch her. Look out kid’s I think you might have some competition when it comes to gunny sack races in the future!

Then last night Selena decided to try to balance on her head or do head stands. She has really been into working hard on her balance lately.

100_2857 100_2859 100_2863 She never really did get into a full head stand but she came close. This might just have to be something we explore for science next week, balance! We might just investigate different ways of placing our hands to create the perfect balance for a head stand. So stay tuned!

  3. Wow, I am impressed with Selena's physical skills. Anna cannot get anywhere close near headstand. We also talked about balance this week, but it was more because Anna wanted to know why her playmobil dolls stand well on the desk, but not on the carpet. I am thinking on following up on this topic with some experimenting, but probably after we come back from our vacation.
