A Special Toy

This toy probably holds more sentimental value to me right now, but I know that someday Selena will grow to appreciate it’s sentimental value as well.

First of all let me start by saying all the men in my Dad’s family and even my brothers have been blessed with a very special talent, the art of working with their hands and wood. My Uncle Wayne was no exception. He started building these wooden cars, as a past time project a long time ago. This one was the last one he had left.

100_2457 It sat high up on a shelf in their dining area almost out of sight. While we were there Saturday, Uncle Wayne, retrieved it from it’s resting place and handed it to Selena. When we got ready to leave he made sure she had her new found toy in hand. Now this wooden toy that I am guessing is probably 20 years old, and hand made by my Uncle has a new home. A new child to enjoy it, but will soon find a resting place, be marked with the date and name of the kindest Great Great Uncle that Selena will probably ever remember. But until then here is just how thrilled she is.

  2. What a great car and what sentimental value it will have! You will need to print out a copy of your parade post and this post to keep with the car!

  5. This is such a special present! Anna has a special silver spoon from her Russian great uncle - I am hoping that maybe one day she will meet that part of the family. I only met my cousins from that part a few times, since they lived so far away, but we are still in touch via occasional emails.
