Geography/History #8

Selena chose from our selection of postcards to look at the State of Indiana. We received the following postcard from One Hook Wonder.

Selena found Indiana on our Atlas and filled it in on her map, but first we went in and took a look on line to discover that their flag is purple and yellow, so Selena colored it in using purple.

We didn’t realize that Corydon was the first State Capital. Now it is Indianapolis.

Selena found it interesting that while Washington’s Flag and Seal look very much alike, Indiana’s State Flag and Seal do not look alike.

Next week we will put our pages together for our Scrapbook. I was lazy this week and didn’t go to town to get ink for my printer. That is the number one thing to do this weekend!

We would love to see what you are studying in Geography or History. Please link up below and we will be sure to come and visit. If you would be interested in swapping postcards with us please leave me a comment letting me know of your interest, please make sure I have a way to contact you if your email is enabled.

  1. It is so important in my opinion to get kids thinking about history and geography at an early age. Good for you

  2. I like the idea of coloring in the map according to colors that have to do with each state - this is really turning out to be an excellent project.

  3. I also like the idea of coloring in the map like that. I think I'll print out a US outline map like that and have the kids color in the places we've already studied. Thanks for the idea!

  4. I love how your map turns out - Selena is so careful with her coloring. You might consider introducing her to state coins here - I found the application pretty neat myself :)

  5. Where'd you find your US map? I haven't found one I like yet.

  6. I would be interested in swapping postcards. Let me know how you would like to get started.
