How to Get 50 Stars on a Flag

I have had some friends and family and blog friends ask how Selena and I were able to get all 50 stars on our flag. I thought I would do up just a quick tutorial as to how we did it.

My blue field on our flag is a square that measures 5 1/4 inches

I used the silver star stickers that you can buy at most any store, they usually come in packs with various colors.

The pattern for 50 stars on the American Flag is 5 rows of 6 stars and 4 rows of 5 stars.

The first and last row each has 6 stars, I started our by placing my first row of 6, then spaced down the left side of the blue paper to get 5 rows, and made my last row of 6 stars.

Staggering my second row which has 5 stars across so that the stars were as centered as I could get them between the each star of my top row.

Then I just used the aid of a ruler to line the rest of the rows up, so it went a row of 6 stars a row of 5 stars.

I hope this is clear and understandable, and helps you should you ever make a flag with your kids and want to make sure you get all 50 stars on the flag.

  1. I never would have thought of this. I would have just started sticking stars on and then been totally messed up. Thanks for the info.

  2. Impressively thought out, I would never have thought of doing that until afterwards.
