Open Ended Art Pumpkins

This week at Mommies Wise Little Bookworms the Open Ended Art theme was Pumpkins. I must admit Selena struggled with this one, since she has her eyes on the squash now in the stores. I finally got her excited when I told her we needed to make the center piece for our table for November and Thanksgiving.

I took a crystal candle holder that I have and put some double sided tape around the upper edge of it. We then took some red maple leaves and Selena helped me attach them to the tape. I then had her place a small pumpkin, an ear of Indian corn, and a gourd on the table within the parameter of the candle holder. We then spread some more leaves around using some fish line to keep them in place. This is what we ended up with:

100_1700 100_1701I thought I still had orange candles, but I couldn’t locate but one green candle, so I guess next time we go to town I will have to pick some up. Then it will be complete.

Come on over to Mommies Wise Little Bookworms to see what other’s have done in Open Ended Art. While your there join in the fun!

  8. This is such a great idea and one my mother-in-law always implements. Every year she has the kids decorate the table for Thanksgiving and create a cornucopia.
