My Favorite Learning Corner

The question for this week at Learning by Leaps and Bounds, is where is your favorite learning corner? I believe and promote a self motivated learning atmosphere that I have to admit my favorite learning corner is our world around us. While Selena has her expected workbook pages to do we truly learn at every moment of the day, no matter where we are or what we are doing. While I have a curriculum and we follow it as far as the work sheets, Selena runs the show as to what she wants to learn for the theme of the week. We have a box where she keeps all the things she is interested in, such as leaves, feathers, rocks, dirt, or just jotted down ideas that she has presented to me through our journeys around our world.
Selena does all her workbook pages and open art at our kitchen table, along with our bible stories. We read books throughout the house, in the living room cuddled on the couch, sitting on the floor, or in her bedroom as she cuddles in for bed.

We all love the out-of-doors, I use the opportunities of our adventures out side to open up a whole new learning corner. From science, exploration, question and answer time, we learn constantly.

Just stopping to take the time to take in everything around us, and explore all that God has created. No matter where we are if we just take the time to allow our little ones and ourselves to stop look around and smell the roses, we can all find something to learn.

We even use the special events such as birthday parties to encourage learning through the games, being around other children, how to take turns, use our manners, sharing etc...
It is truly my goal to make learning as much fun for Selena as I can, I want our experiences to go beyond the expected book learning to exploring the world around us, and the things that Selena is truly interested in. She has her own individual ideas, interests, and curiosities, so I want her to learn that it is OK to explore these things and that learning is truly a 24/7 activity, that learning does not have to stop just because we close the books.
