Balance Science

Selena came out of her room yesterday after noon with all these hangers. She called them her wind chimes. We talked about balancing, and I showed her several different ways of balancing them. She played with them trying to do many of the same things I did. Pretty soon she disappeared back to her bedroom only to reappear with this.

She was so proud of how many hangers she actually got hanging from the one. Of course as you can see they are all hanging off one side, so not quite a balance act. I guess you know that now our next step is getting all these back into the closet and off the bedroom floor. No, there were no clothes on them, thankfully she didn’t go that far.

We are happy to report that we are no longer snowed in. Our landlord came out and plowed and just in time for the rains to hit, boy that would have been a mess. Over half our snow has melted, and the flooding has began. Thankfully we are on a hill and do not need to worry about flooding.

We did have some excitement though Friday, when Papa looked out only to discover two of the three horses here were out. I was able to get ahold of the landlord who was able to come out and get them back in the pasture. It seems that when their son was out playing in the snow with the 4 wheelers, he did not get the gate latched. This posed the question “What do I do if they get out and I can’t get ahold of the landlord?” Easily answered, park my car sideways between the two lower fences so they can’t get to the street, and let them just roam until I can finally get ahold of the landlords. Hopefully this will be the last time they decide to take a little walk though.

  1. I thought of you when I heard about the snow in Washington on the radio. We got a few inches this weekend - the kids are actually out sledding with my husband right now - they couldn't wait!

    I love the hangers!

  2. You have had some crazy weather lately. Great to know that you can finally get out. I've been thinking that Anna barely even saw live horses up close and personal :)

  3. I'm glad you're on a hill - being flooded out would not be fun!

  4. That has been some crazy weather! I love the hanger science :) My kids have quite surprisingly not figured out to do that, they have turned them into weapons.
