The Homeschool Mother’s Journal #26

The Homeschool Mother's Journal

In my life this week…

I started out this week with a sinus infection. Then to top that off I had an allergic reaction to the antibiotic that the Dr. gave me. With a new antibiotic now I believe I am on the mend.

Reflecting back, was something that heavy on my heart this week, as we prepared to celebrate Selena’s birthday. Where oh where did the last 5 years go? It was a lot of fun decorating and getting ready for her small birthday party with her help this year.

Now I feel I can totally fix my focus on Christmas.

In our homeschool this week…

Between not feeling well, and birthday planning we didn’t do any schooling.

Helpful homeschooling tips or advice to share…

Sometimes we just need to keep it simple. It is so easy to get caught up in so much planning, and logging progress, we loose the true reason we homeschool. Stop take a breath, and simplify.

Places we’re going and people we’re seeing…

We are going to have a good friend over to spend Christmas with us. I am looking forward to having her join our family.

My favorite thing this week was…

When I asked Selena if she felt any different now that she is 5. The way she felt her head, body, arms and legs then announced, “No I do not feel any different then I did when I was 4,” was probably the best moment. Otherwise I would have to say just celebrating her 5th birthday was the BEST.

I’m grateful for…

I truly am grateful for the opportunity to work on Molly’s Home Team. I look forward to bringing you reviews of small appliances and household products.

  2. Sorry about your sinus infection. Even great events are only half as great if you are sick. I hope you are completely healed by Christmas.

  4. I totally agree with your advice on keeping it simple. As a fellow homeschooling mom recently shared with me: Education is a secondary reason to homeschool. Training soldiers for Christ is primary. Happy Birthday to your little one. Mine recently turned six and even as I type that I realize it was already three months ago so now she's techically six and a quarter. Gah!

  6. Working schooling into family life instead of family life into schooling is a definite plus of homeschooling.
