My Self Instructed Learner

I just love it when I am busy doing something and turn to discover Selena is busy with her school work with no prompts from me. On this particular day I turned and discovered this.

Selena had grabbed one of the pages from our Progressive Phonics and was reading it out loud to herself. She was making sure to pronounce the letter blends just the way they were suppose to sound. First let me tell you she grabbed a page that discussed SH on it. She looked through her letters and found the S and put it on her board. She tried very hard to find the H, but came up with an L instead. She placed the L on the board, and thought about this for a while.

She finally slid the L up along side the S and turned to announce to me that S and L make the SL sound as in Sleeve. Self learning at it’s best!

  1. This is awesome. On the weekend Anna is always up for something "school-like" to do in the morning - that's when she has most appetite for learning. I am glad that she is a morning learner, since, after all, this is when she is in school :)

  3. She looks so grown up in that picture! I didn't recognize her at first.

    Great job Selena!
