Homeschool Mother’s Journal # 10

The Homeschool Mother's Journal

In my life this week…

This week has been one of those weeks that I would not want to go back and start over. While it was not a horrible week there have been some things and issues that came up that made it feel like a rollercoaster. Someone very dear to me said and did some things that hurt my feelings. As hard as I tried to overlook the words and actions I still feel them stirring inside.

This also was a week of doctor appointments. I knew I had my follow up with my Oncologist which went very well as I expected. Then Selena after being sick with the flu symptoms last week, suddenly had a spot that appeared on her skin. We didn’t know what it was and chose to keep an eye on it. Well yesterday it looked like it was becoming infected. After Papa and his bout with MRSA, I chose to take her in. While they was not able to get a good culture they are treating her for MRSA. We no more got home when she came running to show me that her index finger is swelling with a puss pocket on it as well. I might be making another trip to the doctor with her today.

In our homeschool this week…

Selena chose to work a lot on her spelling, and finally broke down and did some serious reading. She even had to show the pediatrician how well she could read. She is reading more and more all the time and the books are becoming more difficult. She is truly enjoying her math and loves reading the story problems then solving them. Her math buddies have really put a great twist to her learning in this area.

I am inspired by…

I truly have to say this week I have been so inspired by all you other homeschoolers, and after schoolers. It has been so fun to hop around and to see so many great ideas.

Places we’re going and people we’re seeing…

We were suppose to attend our church Back to School Block Party, but unfortunately now we will not be attending. I truly feel sorry for Selena this summer as she has missed out on all the fun things that has taken place. Next year has to be better for her.

My favorite thing this week was…

Having so much laughter everyday as we learned and played together.

What’s working/not working for us…

So far it seems like every direction I chose to go in curriculum wise has been a huge hit. Now if we can only fine tune our Science a bit.

I’m praying for…

I am praying for Selena to heal fast and for this infection to not spread any further then it has. I am also praying for forgiveness for my feelings and emotions over this situation between my friend.

Selena gave me so many laughs as she gave me a lesson in how to sweep the floor. I will leave you with the pictures of the rest of this story.

  8. Ugh, I'm praying this gets better soon because it sounds like a rather trying week all around.

I was really starting to get into the swing of things here, and then these last few days have thrown me off.
