Another Blast of Summer

A few weeks ago we woke up to the most beautiful warm morning. We knew it was going to be a hot day, so we didn’t waste any time to get outside. Selena had fun playing with her basketball hoop, then moved on to her swing set. We have been very proud of her here lately, the newness has worn off, and she is very content to stay in her backyard instead of running all over the place with us chasing after her to keep her from going places she isn’t suppose to go. I knew we would have some problems when we first moved here considering she truly did not have a yard in the old house to play in. Our consistent reminders, discipline, and removing privileges have began to pay off. Not only with Selena but even with Pal who use to think his world consisted of every inch of the 5 acres, the apartments next door and all the yards across the busy street. They both have done great in settling down and settling in to just staying in their yard.

Meet Mr. Penguin, Selena’s freebie from the garage sale. Selena thought it was so much fun to let him use her slide. When he giggles he squeals, Yippee! That was perfect for going down the slide.

Selena sent him down by himself, then she insisted he had to sit on her lap and go down with her. It truly was hilarious.
It wasn’t long though and we pulled the pool out. I will let the pictures tell the story of how much fun she had.

Now if that isn’t a face of pure joy I don’t know what is. While she didn’t want it to end, the water was heating up pretty good in that little pool, the bees were getting pretty aggressive, and come on she had spent the entire day in there, she looked like a little prune when we pulled her out. The only time she came out was to eat a little lunch, then it was jump back in the pool. Just think last summer she wouldn’t even sit in her little pool, what a change.

  3. It is amazing how much kids change from year to year. We've had similiar leaps forward in willingness to do stuff.

Looks like a pretty good day.
