Our Old Farm House

Yesterday I took some of our things up to our new home, might just as well start moving in. While I was up there I took some pictures. The more I am up at this house the more I love it.

A little bit about the story of this house. We had mentioned to our landlord, (yes, we rent) that we would like to have a larger home. He owns many homes in our town so we had hoped that he would have something open up. This home is his pride and joy, it is the home his Dad built and that he grew up in.

When he first told us he had an old farm house on 5 acres, I pictured a run down farm house. He asked if we would like to go see it. We figured sure what would it hurt, still figuring we would find a dump. When we followed him into the paved driveway that runs between the pastures, we got our first glimpse of this white house. We both kept asking “Is that it?” “No, that can’t be the house.” “Could this really be the house?” Again we answered our own questions with the same, “It can’t be.” As he pulled up to it and stopped, I don’t know about Papa, but my heart leaped. I looked at Papa and announced, “You got to be kidding me, this is the old farm house! This isn’t an old farm house, this is too nice of a house to be called that.” The minute we walked in I fell in love.

We toured through, and I kept wanting to avoid the questions that I knew would just make it impossible for us to move into this house…”How much of a damage deposit?” I no more spit the words out of my mouth and was waiting to hear the answer that was going to crush me, when our landlord announced the amount, then continued that we would only need $50.00 though. I could have hugged him on the spot, but no I refrained myself, and turned to tell Papa what our conversation just was. Our landlord is being very nice by transferring the damage deposit on the home we are in now to this house. The only stipulation was that we be moved in by the end of this month.

I reminded my husband when we got home of our prayers the night before. That we thanked God for everything we have, and asked him to reveal to us if this was the house he truly wanted us to live in with an answer we definitely would know could only be of Him. Well, I guess one can say that there was no doubt that this is where we are suppose to move.

I will take more pictures as we move in. If you don’t see me on here you will know I am busy between moving and VBS. I do have some reviews coming up along with a give a way, so make sure to watch for those.

  1. It looks like a wonderful place to live. It is interesting how the styles of homes are so different in the different areas of the county. Our farm houses look very different here.
