Hectic and Crazy

If that title doesn’t explain what things have been like around here these past couple of days. I feel a sense of calmness, and a feeling of joy that I am now able to share with all of you the birth of our Grandson, Charles Jr. Now if only I had some pictures to share, hopefully we will get some soon. He was born on Tuesday February 22nd at 5:00 a.m. weighing in at 7 pounds 11 ounces. Both Mom and baby are doing fine and as I type this they are home.

Selena spoke with her mom this morning and congratulated her on the baby puppy. She truly does not understand the concept of a baby brother. Even though I keep telling her that her mom did not have a puppy, that it is a baby, she continues to inform me that this is not the way it is and that her mom indeed has a baby puppy. PLEASE mom get us some pictures so that Selena can try to understand this.

I have packed up much of the baby items I had left over from Selena and they are prepared to take to the post office when Papa gets off work. We still had the baby tub that we used with Selena, and the much needed crib sheets, blankets, and a few newborn outfits that are in neutral colors. Mom mentioned she would like to do the baby’s room in Winnie the Pooh, well, yes I did have some things with Winnie the Pooh to send her.

They got a crib from some agency down there for free, when their friends brought it to them they were so disappointed as it had a broken leg, something wasn’t right with one of the rails and there were no bolts. Papa and I ordered them a port-a-crib and they should be receiving it within a week. I can’t imagine any agency giving or selling a broken crib, that just doesn’t seem right to me. I know it was used, and yes, it was free, but still you would think the agency could have said something like, “I don’t think you want it though as it has all these things wrong with it.” Just my opinion.

Ok, now back to finish my post. Mom did send us some pictures on my phone, so we have at least had our first glimpses of this little man. He looks just like Selena did when she was born, dark hair and all.  Selena now is trying to get us to go get her baby brother and bring him home. She has already informed us that he is suppose to live here too. This will be a hard one to explain and deal with, which I anticipated, but I know we will get through it.

While we have had our concerns about this situation, we are proud to have a beautiful grandson. We know that God is in control, and so now all we need to do is enjoy, and be supportive. I would love this summer to help mom and this little man come for a visit. It would be nice to meet him in person. Anyway that is what we have been up to the past couple of days.

  1. Congratualtions! I hope all goes well. I am sure she intellectually understands that it is not a puppy. I think she just is having a hard time dealing emotionally with her family situation (calling her friends sisters and her brother a puppy are just signs of that.) She will just need time to understand and accept it all.

  2. Phyllis is probably right, she's just figuring it all out in her head.

Maybe the crib got broken in transport to them?

  3. I agree that Phyllis is probably right on with this one. I'm sure it is difficult for Selena to sort it all out.

That is odd about the crib.

  4. I'm glad Selena got to see some pictures. I can't imagine how confusing it must be for her - virtual hugs to all of you!

  5. I hope that you will be able to see your grandson this summer, and Selena might get to know her little brother better. Hopefully he stays healthy and happy under care of his parents.
