The Trees Think

It is Autumn! We observed this tree yesterday and discovered the leaves are already changing and falling off the tree. We investigated some more trees to discover they too are changing. I admit our weather has not been Summer type weather, not really Spring type either, I guess one could say more like Autumn. We wake to it being cold in the mornings, cold enough we think about turning on the heat, but by afternoon it is pleasant. I just don’t think the trees quite know what to do.

I am not ready for Autumn yet, after all we haven’t even had Summer. Selena’s only played in her swimming pool once, that is right once, it’s too cold for thinking of water fun, no water balloons here, and no running through the sprinkler. Oh I am so ready to have our vacation start, I sure hope the weather is warmer in Spokane! Now I know you see sun right? Well this picture was taken just as the sun finally appeared at 6:00 yesterday evening. We get a lovely 2 hours of sun if we are lucky per day, that’s it, the rest of the time it is cloudy and cold.

  1. oh gee you really have missed out on summer then haven't you.

I will be glad for our winter to be over, we have many cloud and dreary days here. Looking forward to some sunshine and swimming.

  3. I knew there was a reason we didn't live in Washington! But, at least it's pretty there :)

  4. So, you live in Washington state? I imagine this is not typical summer weather for you? How strange that the leaves are changing already! It's too bad that you haven't been able to enjoy the typical summer adventures. It has been in the 80s and 90s here (MA). Last summer, we had rain for most of the summer.

  6. I am sorry that you didn't get to have a nice summer. It took longer than usual for it to come here too, but now we have nice warm days. Still, the leaves are falling here all year round - I guess some of the trees are transplants from the South hemisphere and get confused.
