We were talking about the 4th of July during our travels. Selena was getting a little tired, so I said let’s make up some stories about America. I made up a little story, then told Selena it was her turn.
“Once Upon A Time, there was a little boy named Papa. Papa lived in America. He met Mama and loved her. Papa married Mama and they lived in America. One day the little boy named Papa and the little girl named mama, got a little girl named Selena and they all lived in America together. The End.”
I thought that was one of the sweetest stories that she has made up. I treasure all her little stories, but this one is the best so far!
We got such a kick out of Selena, we told her she would be able to stay up and watch the fireworks. We don’t have to buy fireworks as on the 4th of July our town sounds and feels like a war zone. Everyone in all directions goes out to the Indian Reservations and buys tons of fireworks. The skies light up at dark with fireworks in all direction. This year was no exception. She was still watching the fireworks at 11:00, who could sleep with all the noise! I am just glad that she truly enjoyed the 4th of July.
Our town sounded like a war zone, too. I heard of people going out to the reservations to buy "the big ones", but as far as I could tell, there were plenty of "big ones" for sale at the regular stands here in town. Ours lasted until midnight, but the kids gave out about eleven :)
ReplyDeleteA very cute story! Our street keeps kids occupied and safe with a big block party and legal fireworks. It was such a difference with last year - Anna had a blast watching them. It sounds like you had a great 4th of July too.
