For the 4th of July weekend we took a long one day drive to the Columbia River. We had so much fun, but wait I don’t want to spoil my Geography lesson for Wednesday by sharing very much information about exactly where we went, and what we saw. I will however share some fun photos that we took along our way.
This is on the shore of the Columbia River, we informed Selena we were going to cross this huge river. She was telling us “I don’t think so.”
We drove all the way up this winding road. It was very steep and very narrow. Going down was real fun, wouldn’t want to be on this road in the winter.
We watched this ship enter the mouth of the Columbia River. Selena thought it was a pirate ship, and told it to back to sea!
It ended up being a very nice warm day so we had to stop several times for water breaks, fresh air, and sight seeing.
Can you guess what Selena is looking at. Let me just give you a hint she thinks it has to do with a book and cartoon that she absolutely loves.
Can you guess now? Well let me give you one more shot at your guess.
Now how long has it been since you seen one of these? Hey it is only 10 cents to make a phone call, but wait.
It’s out of order, won’t even take your dime anymore!
Remember the ship that Selena thought was a pirate ship, well can you say “We got to see it again further up the river?” And there she goes! Now come back on Wednesday to find out just where our Geography Trek took us today. I will tell you this it was a long drive, we left at 10:00 a.m. and didn’t get back home until 7:30 p.m. Believe me next time we make this trek we will spend the night on the road.
Hope you all have a safe and happy 4th of July!
My kids always have a hard time believing the Columbia is a river at all - it's so wide. Can't wait to read more!
ReplyDeleteHow fun! I am sure Selena was thrilled to be on a real adventure. Anna was so beyond herself with excitement about flying that we had a really hard time getting her to sleep during our red-eye flight to New Jersey in June.
ReplyDeleteWe drove a couple of roads like that today, they'd be scary in snow.
ReplyDeleteThere's some real cute shots in there, I don't blame you for wanting to share them now and not later.
Oh, and hopefully I'll remember to email you later on about the church we visited this morning, it ws intereesting.
