My Homeschool Supplies and Tools

I keep all my school supplies in two bins. One is for all of our curriculum and supplies we use on a daily basis and the other is where I keep the supplies we use on occasions, basically extra art supplies. I have two filing systems, first and foremost is my Daily Planner that came with my curriculum which I couldn't live without. The second is a expandable file folder that all my masters, and Selena's work is neatly kept.
I thought a lot about my favorite teaching tools and though I love our felt board I kept coming back to Selena as being my favorite teaching tool. She can take any lesson plan I might have and turn it into what she desires to learn with a simple question. Gears switch often here in our home as I truly want this to be Selena's school. That is one of the things that I love about homeschooling is no matter how organized I think I am, Selena truly knows what she wants to learn. This does not take from our basic fundamentals, but it adds to the extra curriculum. She loves the world around her so through a story that is read, or her own curiosity sometimes our little school area turns into a full fledged exploration lab. This tends to keep me on my toes but I love the challenge.

  1. I love it what you said about Selena. She sounds like such a bright and curious child. I don't know - Anna seems to be more willing to learn whatever I have in mind, but I think that I should get more creative about switching her into a learning mood by somehow incorporating her favorite games into our teaching time.

  2. I love bins too.

You are doing such a great job with Selena. I enjoy reading about her and about all that you are doing with her. You are teaching with your heart, that is so very obvious.
