Actually our week ended up being busier then most, is that possible after all we’ve been through this year? Oh,yes it can. We had two play dates this week, fun stuff you know. On Wednesday we had a new to homeschool mom and her two girls come over in the afternoon for a fun time of play for the kids and a nice visit for us moms.
Thursday morning we got up early and headed to Olympia for a dentist appointment. Our next appointment for Selena will be in April so that she can get sealants put on those permanent teeth.
After we finished with the dentist we headed to Lacey to finally get to see our good friends. I know I have mentioned them numerous times on my blog but to refresh your memory, I have known the family for nearly 20 years now. We started homeschooling our older children at the same time way back then. How we both ended up over here on the same side of the State, is a funny story in itself, but yet really cool. We haven’t seen them in a couple of years now, since his job with the Navy took them to the East Coast and then to the South before bringing them back home.
Selena and their granddaughter had so much fun playing. I think the most exciting thing for Selena was when she discovered that they had a Dragon Lizard, she got to hold and feed it. Talk about one excited girl. I truly enjoyed visiting and catching up. You know it is truly the sign of a good friend when you can go a few years and just pick up where you are in your lives now.
I had so much more planned for the weekend, but Papa wasn’t feeling super well. I truly felt on Saturday that I was ready for a break, so while Papa and Selena stayed home I went with a friend to have a girl’s day out, with lunch a lot of laughter, and fun adult conversation.
Papa asked me to start looking around for new living room lamps. I found a pair that I liked, but the more I thought about it the more I realized I couldn’t part with the ones I have. My lamps are over 50 years old, and were purchased by my mom when I was about Selena’s age from an auction for $8.00 for the pair. One of them got knocked over and the lamp shade sat crooked, something just told me it could be repaired. I spent yesterday cleaning, and tightening up these two lamps. Needless to say by the time I was done I admit they are not perfect but I did get Papa off my case about buying new lamps. Now he can just buy me new lampshades.
We’re ready for a week of not much to do outside of our studies, and getting back to a more relaxed time together.
Sounds like a great weekend. How neat to have those friends where the ties never get broken, even after a few years of silence...
