Thankful Thursday is hosted by Brenda at Garden of Learning. There is also a Thankful Thursday at Three Thinking Mothers. As I pondered over this meme my heart was very touched by all the friends that I have made here. So many times when you move to a new area you can almost feel like an outsider, an alien, and it can become very difficult to discover where you truly fit in. At times it can seem terribly lonely.
This week though I have been very blessed to see just how many friends I have made here in the last 8 years. I have never needed to be the popular one, but I as anybody do have that basic need of wanting others in my life, friendships. Not just for what they can fill my life with but for what I can bring into their lives. I prayed with a friend who is healing from surgery, prayed for a friend facing illness, listed to a mom feeling overwhelmed in her homeschool, and reached out to a friend who has removed herself from a rough relationship, only to uncover the realization of being alone for the holidays.
These friends, I know would do the same things for me. I am thankful to have these fine ladies in my life, a husband who understands my innermost need to have friends in my life, and a home that I can welcome each and everyone of these women into.
Our Christmas may include one extra family member, which I wouldn’t have it any other way. I am truly thankful for the friends that God has brought into my life, to what each one brings to my table, for all of them make my life more complete. I pray that I am able to in someway make them feel the very same way, because to me that is what true friendship is all about.
I love it, Debbie!!

ReplyDeleteThanks for linking with Three Thinking Mothers :)
I love this post. Friends are such a special treasure. I have been through some times in my life where I feel like I don't have a lot of friends (like when we made the decision to take our girls out of school and all my PTO mom friends just kind of stopped calling). I am so thankful for my friends too. It's wonderful to be there for someone and also to know that someone has your back.
