A Day Trip

We woke yesterday morning and knew it was going to be a beautiful day. The forecast was for the temps to be in the 70’s but it actually got up to 80’s. We decided to make a picnic lunch and drive up to Quinault Lake, which is in the Olympic National Forest and the Quinault Rain Forest. I will share more about the lake in our Geography/History post on Wednesday. Right now I just want to show you a little bit about the things we seen and did.
The last time we had been up there was when Selena was a year old. We remembered a wonderful picnic area, and a trail that toured back into an old homestead. The problem was we forgot this area is located on the North Shore, and we stayed on the South Shore. Next time we will know where to go.
Selena did get to see her first waterfall up close.

Of course she wanted to go down and play in the water with the other children, but while they sounded like they were having fun, they were yelling about how cold the water was. I am sure it was since this is fed off the snowy mountains. After run off, this water fall is nothing but a small drip if even that.

Of course you know Selena had to get her picture taken by the entrance sign. I just wish we could have gotten her picture taken by the entrance to the Rainforest.

It wouldn’t be much of a day unless after one ate if there wasn’t a whole lot of running.

Plus you can never go through the rainforest without seeing huge trees everywhere.

Make sure to check back on Wednesday when I share more about the history that lays behind this magical place.

  6. It's hard to think of rain forests in Washington. I"m so used to thinking of them in South America.

Love the picture of her next to the entrance sign. I try to do the same thing with my kids.
