We woke up Saturday morning which according to our understanding was suppose to still be sunny to a wet cloudy day. Poor Selena is just convinced that our Summer is now over and we will be staying in the house until next year when Summer returns.
I made some very interesting observations this week while we were out playing in the sun. One of the first observations I made was that we do not seem to have as many birds as we normally have. Usually on a nice sunny morning while the grass is still damp or even on a morning like Saturday, our yard would be black with birds picking and plucking worms out of the grass. This just was not the case.
Selena hunted and hunted for her familiar little insects, she only found but a couple of ants and commented that she could not find any signs of an ant hill or ants making their home in the cracks of our sidewalk. She watched and watched around all the flowers she could find for bees, we heard one go buzzing past, but didn’t see any on the flowers, not a one.
Usually by now I am chasing spiders out of my mud room, would you believe I have only found one spider! I have had to chase a lot of slugs out, but no spiders coming out to feast upon all the other little bugs that seem non existent.
We did have fun playing in the sun, it was nice to take a break from the computer, while yes, I did do some posting, now I need to get around and start catching up on my bloggy friends.
We did achieve a lot more during our little break. For one we took a look at our schedule, which needed some fine tuning. We have incorporated another 1/2 hour in the evening for Selena to spend time with us cuddling, reading, writing, or just talking. We also moved her nap time up an hour later, since she was having struggles going down at the old time.
I am sitting here knowing that Selena is totally not listening to my requests that she come out of our room and let her Papa sleep. I guess I am finished with this post and should go get my sweet granddaughter and have a nice little talk about this little situation.
My folks are seeing the same thing in Oregon - almost no spring this year at all.
ReplyDeleteI miss naps
ReplyDeleteWe've had a weird spring too. It's been warm but no rain.
Spring is weird here too. I hope we have a nice summer, and I hope you do too!
ReplyDeleteWe have late spring here too - more rain as usual. Hopefully sun will come soon.
ReplyDeleteSorry that spring disappeared again! Ours has come and gone. It's back right now. I hear you on the different animals this year. I just heard my first quail of the year this morning. Usually they are here much earlier in the season. It will be interesting to see how the seasons pan out this year!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to hear that you had a good week and were able to enjoy some good weather and get some things accomplished. I do hope nice weather returns for you!
ReplyDeleteI guess I wouldn't mind a lack of bugs ;)
