Our Week

It has been a good week. I am so impressed as to how Selena has bounced back into her learning desire. Her attention span has increased so much and it even shows in her over all attitude throughout the day. She needed the little break, and I really believe that I did too, to refresh ourselves, ponder, play and experiment with all that we had learned thus far.

This week was met with some challenges. Papa was sick. He just never really did get over the bug we had a couple of weeks ago. It finally really came to a head and hit him hard on Tuesday night. While he wasn’t feeling good, I think it was good for him to just observe his granddaughter as she concentrated on her learning, then always went to him to show or tell him what she had just learned.

We all need encouraging words now and again. This week a dear friend of ours, daughter is pregnant. After emailing her and congratulating her on her pregnancy, she wrote a very heart felt email back. The email brought tears to Papa’s eyes as he read it. Sometimes we go through the emotions and motions of our days and never stop to realize just how special our lives are until someone tells us.

On a piece of sad news we received this week. My great niece who is only 14 years old, lost her father in a car accident. We think to all the dreams a young teenager has, from her father being there for her to help teach her to drive, being there when she graduates, to walking her down the isle. To know that these dreams can be wiped out in only a moment because one did not think through their actions is deeply sad. She has a strong mom, a good step-dad, a wonderful aunt, and a great set of grandparents who no doubt will be at her side to get her through this difficult time. We know that she is feeling pretty lonely right now, as she has never had a chance to get to know the rest of the family due to the distance they live from us, but we are all doing all we can to make sure she knows we do indeed love her and are here for her as well. Some prayers for her would be greatly appreciated.

I am looking forward to another great week of learning with Selena, and am hoping that Spring will be headed our way. We so much want to get outside. March has definitely come in like a lion here, so we hope it goes out like a lamb.

I didn’t realize how behind I fell on my end of blogging until I visited a few of my blogging friends, and realized how many posts I had missed. I hope to get caught up, or at least move forward from here. I was so shocked when I looked up to realize I had over 400 emails in my in box, this is not including all the junk that pours in and gets deleted daily. I do however believe that I have answered all my emails.

We look forward to entering a whole new season, and discovering all the fun activities that you are all doing with your children and sharing what we are doing.

  2. I'm sorry to hear about the loss in your family.

I have never managed to completely catch up on reading blogs when I have taken breaks. I think everyone understands that this isn't always possible.

I hope everyone in your house is healthy now!

  3. It's exciting when our children are so full of desire to learn new things. I am sorry about bad news - it's pretty tragic to lose a loved one at an early age.
