Geography/History

geographyhistory

I have been hoping I would find an easy fix for my printer, but I have come to the conclusion that it finally gave up. Even after changing the ink it is still refusing to print and continues to tell me my ink is empty. Believe me when I say I have pulled those ink cartridges out too many times to count, put them back in, giggled them, pushed them in harder, everything I can think of only to come up with nothing. We have come to the conclusion that we must buy a new printer, so until this happens we are going to be doing other fun things with Geography. Selena, still pulls her scrapbook out and studies through where we left off, and is a little frustrated that we are not able to move forward, but she is welcoming our new activities as well.

Unitedstates

Selena loves to look through these cards of the United States, but I can’t count the number of time’s I’ve had to search and search to find the missing ones that she has packed off. I remembered Ticia at Adventures of Mommydum said something about putting them on a ring, so Monday night I punched a hole in every card, and the next morning Selena and I sat down to begin to have fun.

100_3673 Selena had fun putting the cards onto the ring. Until she so many on there that I had to finally hold the ring as she placed them on.

100_3675 Oh the joy when she finished the task!

100_3679 Wow, Look how focused she is while she is discovering the entire concept this new idea.

Then we brought out our scrapbook and Selena had fun comparing the cards to her pages to locate and match up the States we have studies so far. Now I think she will really grow to appreciate these cards even more, and we will be able to make them an extension to our geography studies.

What are you doing for your geography or history studies?

  1. Oh, I just love handy dandy tips like those cards on a ring!

And, a side note- We recently had issues with our Kodak printer. It would not print the color cartridge correctly. We kept trying to fix it (to no avail), so my husband finally contacted the printer company. They were very helpful, and even sent us the replacement part we needed FOR FREE!

If it's possible, try contacting the printer company- it might be worth the effort! :0)

  2. Nothing to report right now. I'll probably have lots in a little bit. I need to sit down and figure out where I want to go from here right now.

  3. So sorry about your printer. I like the idea of putting the cards on the ring, so they stay put. Anna has been lukewarm about geography lately, but she is still very unsettled after all the travel.

  4. I love the idea of putting those flashcards on a ring! I'm going to do that as well.

We didn't do anything for geography this week. M is learning about continents in school this week, but I honestly think it's a concept she's not ready for so I decided not to expand on it at home. I think we'll go back to state studies starting next week.
